I miss the Riverfront Carousel and OMSI! We moved mid-school year so the kids would make friends before summer break. I *do* have to carry hand lotion with me everywhere because of the dry air... but other than that the only scales are on the reptiles at the high desert museum.

Good luck with your move! And welcome to the area!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14603254.post-1164856509880210152006-11-29T19:15:00.000-08:002006-11-29T19:15:00.000-08:00I love Bend! Well, I miss the grocery store being close, but when we moved, we wanted to be out of town to have land. The scaly people are the ones that haven't heard of sunscreen.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14603254.post-1164732248103733542006-11-28T08:44:00.000-08:002006-11-28T08:44:00.000-08:00Wow, thank you for all the information! We're actua...Wow, thank you for all the information!

We're actually moving to Redmond. That is fine with me, it's close enough to Bend to not feel isolated. And, it's on Highway 97 so it's not too out of the way for people to come and find me.Occidental Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08462196172327033327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14603254.post-1164264654227432272006-11-22T22:50:00.000-08:002006-11-22T22:50:00.000-08:00I'm guessing when you say "Central Oregon" that yo...I'm guessing when you say "Central Oregon" that you mean Bend. ???

Bend is beautiful, and moving from Portland, you're going to still view it as a "small town".

I think of small towns as 10-25K people, so I recently moved from Bend. It was too crowded for me, and a bit too pretentious.

HOWEVER. I do think that Bend is still a great place to live. It's just not for me.

A few sites that you should start keeping up on:

hackbend.com - written by a friend of mine, and very honest.

utterlyboring.com - again, written by a Bend resident that works in Sunriver

bendbulletin.com - the local paper

tsweekly.com - the local weekly rag filled with opinions and drama.

ktvz.com - the local news station

bendblogs.com - all of the local blogs

Good luck in your move, and enjoy the sunny weather and friendly faces of Bend!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14603254.post-1164213072109145592006-11-22T08:31:00.000-08:002006-11-22T08:31:00.000-08:00Oregon sounds like a wonderful place...central or ...Oregon sounds like a wonderful place...central or otherwise.
